Objective:Nitraria tangutorum Bobr.(Zygophyllaceae) belongs to deciduous leaf bush, its fruits are also called’desert cherry’, and have been traditionally used in China as healthy food and Chinese medicines. To investigate the bio-active constituents and evaluate their pharmacological activities, we studied the components of N. tangutorum Bobr. by extraction, purification, and elucidation, and their bioactivities were also investigated next.Method:The95%EtOH extract of N. tangutorum Bobr. was partitioned with dichloromethane, EtOAc, n-Butanol, methanol to give four fractions, successively. The chemical constituents in dichloromethane and EtOAc partitions were isolated by silical gel, C18reversed silical gel, and Sephadex LH-20. Their chemical structures were elucidated by MS, NMR. The bioactivities of multi-partitions and phytochemicals were investigated by MTS antitumor model, Quorum sensing (QS) inhibition model, and Biofilm inhibition model. Oxgen radical absorbance capacity and DPPH radical-scavenging assays were also performed.Result:Seven phytochemicals were isolated, and identified by the spectrum technology as5-ethoxymethyl-lH-pyrrole-2-carbaldehyde (I), a-methyl pyrrole ketone (II),5-methyl-lH-pyrrole-2-carboxaldehyde (III), Isorhamnetin3-O-β-D-rutinoside (IV), sitosterol (V), Daucosterol (VI), and oleic acid (Ⅶ.5-ethoxymethyl-lH-pyrrole-2-carbaldehyde (Ⅱ), a-methyl pyrrole ketone (II) and5-methyl-lH-pyrrole-2-carboxaldehyde (III) were isolated from Nitraria L. first time, and a-methyl pyrrole ketone (II) and5-methyl-lH-pyrrole-2-carboxaldehyde (III) are isomers. Our results revealed that the fruits of N. tangutorum Bobr. crude extract exhibited high antioxidant activity. The dichlormethane fraction, EtOAc fraction, n-Butanol fraction of leaves and the dichlormethane fraction of fruits showed moderate antitumoral activities. The EtOAc fraction of leaves inhibited the growth of MRSA.
