The modernization process is a comprehensive and diversified process,with the development of economy,the acceleration of population’s movements,the alienation of kinship networks,the increase in one-child’s population and the extension of life expectancy,resulting in an increasing number of empty-nesters.Empty nesters are the vulnerable groups in the vulnerable elderly groups,faced with material deprivation and spiritual loss and some other problems. It is not noly an individual problem faced by empty nesters families,but aslo a social problems which has wider significance. Currently,Suzhou’s govement has carried out some activities aimed at helping empty nesters,and,to some extent,it has given a basic living security for the empty nesters, but still lacken of spiritual support for the empty nesters. In this paper,the auther take empty nesters in Canglang District,Suzhou City as the research objects,through the literature search method,questionnaire and interview methods to collect information.The auther take empty nesters’demand as a foundation, investigate formal and informal social supports which empty nester has received, analyze the main problems of social support ,attempt to make some countermeasures to perfect the social support system for empty-nesters .
