Abstract


The thesis is the translation practice report of the speech given by Premier Li Keqiang at the anti-graft and clean governance meeting of the State Council. On the basis of a brief introduction to the background, significance and purpose of the translation practice, the report attaches great importance to the difficulties met in translation and translation methods dealing with them. The speech is highly political, therefore, the translation should be faithful to its Chinese version. While pursuing faithfulness, Chinglish should be avoided. In order to meet the two requirements, the author chose methods and techniques corresponded with the characteristics of the speech, like many expressions with Chinese characteristics and being highly political. The main methods are as follows: literal translation, free translation, breaking sentences and changing order, methods of adding and omitting, voice conversion and so on.The report firstly analyzes the characteristics of the speech given by Premier Li Keqiang and gives a brief introduction to the arrangements of time and staffs; secondly, the report introduces the difficulties in the translation by cases analysis, including the translation of complex sentences, expressions with Chinese characteristics and avoiding Chinglish in translation and concludes methods and techniques:changing, breaking and recombining sentences order, literal translation, free translation, omitting and adding, voice transfer and different translation of the same word according to the context; at last, the report summarizes experiences and shortages from the translation practice.
