Since the Renaissance in Europe, the Western oil painting techniques experienced continuous development, from the initial closely related to religion, politics, life, more and more concerned about their own language into the inherent beauty of form independent discipline. Especially after the bourgeois revolution, art gradually get rid of the influence of religion, politics, literature, no longer reflecting the traditional themes of feudal aristocracy and religious politics, but reflecting the social life or some easy theme. Artists concentrate on art language itself in the form of beauty. After experiencing the impressionism, post‐impressionism, the art forms finished the conversion from thetraditional to the modern, from the concrete to the abstract. But after the modern art and the post‐modern art, oil painting go farther and farther down the road in purely abstract, and even some of the works beyond the painting itself. In the face of variety possibilities, modern artists find it was more difficult to innovate. In face of the variety of creative styles today, Chinese oil painting creators can learn from the unique Chinese ink painting language, so find one of their own way of development. This paper is to ask and analysis this questions. There are a lot of modern Western art masters absorped oriental painting elements and won. Learning more about our local culture, we should combine the two better.
