The old cadres not only are the valuable wealth of the party and the country, but alsoare important political force of the Party and the state.They can maintain long period ofstability. Because of the great social influence, the stability of this group is the key role forthe elderly population and social stability. At present, with the profound transformation ofeconomic system, the changes of social structure,and the adjustment of the pattern ofinterests, the mind state of this group is becoming more and more complicated, whichbrings new challenges to the ideological and political work.The analysis of the old cadreteam’s mind state has become an important topic in the current to ensure the stability of theold cadres.Basing on the social theories, psychology, political science, this paper which iscombines with the Henan province old cadre work actual situation, evaluates andanalysises the status of the old cadres’ ideological and political work, then sorts out thecharacteristics of Ideological and political work.The analysis results show that theideological and political work has significant differences,the lack of innovation on workcontent, unpurpose of the work method and the unperfect working mechanism. There arefour factors leading to these problems: firstly, more complexed ideological problems whichare the results of the ideological shock, the psychological discomfort of the role’stransformation, the stricted activity; secondly, the restricted innovation development workfrom the staff’s shortage and the low comprehensive quality level; thirdly, the unsmoothwork channel from the unscientific policy design, the unperfect work mechanism;last,because the society and the relevant departments’ one-sided cognition on the oldcadres,there is not enough attention to this work.To achieve ultimately the overall development goals "social person",we need enhancethe level of Ideological and political work cadres.We should start from the characteristicsof the the old cadres’ ideological and political work, follow the people-oriented principleand organizate the the cadres’ social participation. Specifically,we should change idea,improve the retired cadres service management system, give full play to the community function, strengthen the cadres Party branch construction. The six aspects will graduallypromote the old cadre ideological and political work development.
