Abstract


In recent years, ancient villages have made some achievements in tourism with the exploiting tides of tourism development. However, there are still many problems. The tourism industry pursuits for benefits maximum merely in the market economy which has resulted in the phenomenon that many ancient villages focus on the tourism development while neglect the protection. The original scenery and historic antiquities are destroyed and the sustainable development encounters great challenges. To realize the sustainable development of ancient villages, the key is to balance the relationship between ancient villages’tourism development and protection. Thus, the thesis studies on the ancient villages of Huizhou, Anhui province. A case study on Tangmo Village is provided to demonstrate the balance between ancient villages’tourism development and protection.The thesis consists of five parts.The first part introduces the present status of Huizhou ancient villages’tourism development and protection. The location, forming conditions, layout and arrangement of ancient villages are described. The present status and problems of ancient villages in tourism development and protection are then discussed separately.The second part shows the importance of the balance between ancient villages’tourism development and protection. The problems and the necessities of balance between tourism development and protection are mainly discussed.The third part gives the strategies of ancient villages in tourism development and protection. The relationship between tourism development and ancient villages’protection are firstly introduced, and then the principles, policies and balance technologies are presented separately.The case study on Tangmo Village is modeled in part four to find the way of balance between tourism development and protection. The main purpose of the thesis is also further expounded.We conclude the thesis in part five. The study of Huizou ancient villages’balance between tourism development and protection is still in its infancy. The further research is needed so as to realize the sustainable development of ancient villages. Through the research on the balance between ancient villages’tourism development and protection, we want to firstly raise awareness of problems in ancient villages’tourism development and protection, and show the necessity of protection in tourism development. Then the principles, policies and balance technologies are provided as references in ancient villages’tourism development and protection.By means of the study, we would like to promote the whole society to attach more importance to ancient village protection, and increase the awareness of the balance between ancient villages’tourism and protection, so as to realize the balance and sustainable development of ancient villages’tourism and protection.
