Abstract


Diversification can bring to the enterprise business performance improvement, which in academia has been a controversial topic. China as an emerging economy countries, the conclusions of the study on this issue may be different and foreign , while the domestic industry still lacks a specific targeted research . In many industries , retail business conditions because of the coexistence of a variety of diverse gene itself has . In the face of foreign invasion and the characteristics of low-margin retail business in recent years, the domestic retail enterprises have launched more diversified, but how effective diversification ? Which is to be discussed in this paper . This paper selects 55 retail Shanghai and Shenzhen listed companies as the research object , take 06 - 08 triennium average financial data to study the domestic retail corporate diversification and firm performance . In this paper, the Herfindahl index represents the degree of diversification of enterprises , the total return on assets ROA, ROE ROE and EPS EPS these three indicators represent business performance . The results showed that: domestic retail Diversification of Listed Companies and the negative correlation between corporate performance , which produced a \enterprise, related diversification enterprise performance better than unrelated diversified enterprise. Therefore, the current stage of retail enterprises should be cautious diversification , put more focus on enhancing the scale of the main industry to maintain rapid growth and coordination on a variety of formats .
