Junior high school students are builders and successors to the socialist cause with Chinese characteristics, and their ideological and moral quality level is directly related to the future of the Chinese nation. For a long time, the Party and the country from a strategic point of view has always attached great importance to ideological and moral education of junior high school students, so their ideological and moral quality has been further improved and risen steadily. But it still has an obvious gap with the demands of economic and social development and the construction of ideology and morality of minors:Part of the junior high school students’ political quality is not high, lack of moral responsibility, lack of psychological quality, interpersonal relationships are not harmonious, etc, these problems affect the physical and mental health of junior high school students and their all-round development. Therefore, an in-depth study of their ideological and moral problems and exploring the effective methods to solve these problems is of great significance.With the empirical method, this paper analyzes and investigates the ideological and moral status of junior high school students:on one hand, their ideological and moral level has been greatly improved, and the mainstream ideological and moral concepts in junior high school students groups dominate. But on the other hand, for some of them, problems in the political quality, moral quality, psychological quality and interpersonal relationships still exist. According to the cause of the problem, four aspects are analyzed one by one in this paper:the whole society’s awareness about the importance of ideological and moral education of middle school students, the school education, the social environment, junior high school students group itself and so on. In addition, from the angles of social development and students’health growth, it elaborates the significance of improving their ideological and moral levels; from the aspects of promoting adherence to curriculum education, cultural education, practice education, etiquette education, network education, combined education, it analyzes the line of thinking of improving students’ideological and moral level; From the points of view of advocating insisting on Close to Reality, Close to Life, close to the students, insisting on unification of knowing and practicing, insisting on convergence of education and management, insisting on combination of explicit and the implicit education, maintaining consistency and coherence of education, it states the principles of improving junior high school students’ ideological and moral level.Finally, the paper focuses on exploring the path choice of improving high school students" ideological and moral quality. Based on the basic principles of ideological and moral education of high school students, and their ideological and moral problems and the causes of the problems, it comes up with specific countermeasures from schools, families, communities, and establishing the trinity linkage mechanism of their ideological and moral education. As a result, the paper thinks improving high school students’ ideological and ethical standards cannot be confined to a narrow range in the field of education, instead, it should be on the basis of fully understanding the ongoing industrialization, information, urbanization and the marketization in China, ensuring the prosperity and successors of the socialist cause with Chinese characteristics, building a well-off society and realizing the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation and coordinating domestic and international situations, seizing the opportunities, researching on the countermeasures to take effective initiatives. Therefore, it forms the overall situation of the whole society improving junior high school students’ ideological and moral level.
