Abstract


Sophomore school year is a critical period of biology learning, students did not reach a unified biology target in junior high school, biology learning level of students is different. After studying for a half semester in senior high school, gap among students becomes much bigger. If you are still in accordance with the traditional "one size fits all" teaching mode, it is bound to polarization phenomena. Students with learning difficulties give up because they can not digest the knowledge, while excellent students lose the enthusiasm for learning because the knowledge teachers teach can not satisfy them. Design Biological New Curriculum standards for all students, focusing on the overall development of students and the need for lifelong development. Curriculum content standards have greater flexibility to adapt to different conditions and different learning needs of the students of the school, and to promote students’ personality development.In order to make the development of different levels of students, teaching reform is imperative. Stratified teaching method appears as a new form of teaching organization after implementing quality education. After referring to literature, there is no study related to covertly stratified teaching of biology. And taking into account that the sophomore students are in a sensitive period of self-esteem, so we try covertly stratified teaching mode, teaching in biology class.Teachers consider the original learning basis of students and intellectual characteristics, hobbies, learning potential synthetically, then allocate to a considerable level of students in different groups secretly, Of course only teacher knows the results. Finally teacher proceeds to the hierarchical standard, hierarchical teaching, hierarchical evaluation, to meet different foundation types, different levels of students’ learning requirements. They can aim at different students to instruct their learning and offer different teaching, thus urging students to have all-round, continuous and harmonious development.The article is based on the study of theoretical research related to education, combining other experience of teachers with my own teaching practice. I select of Tianjin the ninth Secondary High School1and2as an object of study. Classl is for the experimental class and Class2is for the control class. Before test, the researcher measured the academic performance, learning interest, learning attitude, self-confidence and learning activity in both classes. No significant difference was found after statistical analysis with SPSS software(P>0.05). After implementing covertly stratified teaching method, academic performance of the experimental class is generally improved compared with the control class (P<0.01).Learning interest, learning attitude, self-confidence and learning activity are significantly better than control classes (P<0.01).In the experimental class, teacher does everything centering on students effectively. Biological interest of students and learning attitude and students’ self-confidence are enhanced. Enthusiasm of students is improved greatly. Students learn in high spirits and they take part in the discussion actively. Teachers respect the students, care about students, and meet the needs of different learning levels of students effectively and give full play to the students’ personal characteristics. The relationship between teacher and students is more harmonious.The preliminary research conclusions consider that implementing covertly stratified teaching is practicable. In the experimental class, teacher does everything centering on students effectively and satisfies needs of different learning level of students. Implementing covertly stratified teaching improves academic performance of students and helps to improve learning interest, learning attitude, self-confidence and learning activity of students.
