Graduate dissertation is an important basis of the measure for scientific research level of the master, the important methods is to develop and evaluate the ability for science research and innovation, but also a necessary condition to obtain a master’s degree. In recent years, as society for high-level physical education talent demand growth, physical education graduate enrollment has expanded each year, so that graduate education resources become relatively tight. Against this background, how the status of Graduate degree dissertation is? Football in China with greater social influence, the football field is an important part of graduate students of physical education, but in previous studies in recent years, no Systemic research for the degree dissertation of football field. On-job postgraduates is a special part of the graduate students, they are usually all kinds of school physical education teachers at all levels, it also has the dual role of teachers and students. How is the status of the degree dissertation of this part of students? What problems these papers have studied? What research methods used? What factors will affect the quality of their dissertation?To solve these problems, this study examined a large number of documents, gain the information about the thesis of the degree dissertation of physical education graduate, research methods, the direction of graduate dissertation of soccer field, the factor of quality factors of physical education graduate student dissertation and other aspects of information, understanding the issues related to the direction of this research, then established the specific methods and contrast object of this study. In this study, between 2005-2009, the dissertation of postgraduate on football for the survey, gain 75 dissertation in the outstanding master’s degree database of CNKI for the physical education of postgraduate dissertation on football. By analyzing the summary, based of topics, methods, references and other parts of these papers, gain the characteristics of access to relevant indicators. In the aspect of research content, the nature of the thesis topics (basic classes, application classes or development class), research direction and subject was statistical analyzed. In the aspect of research methods, studied the overview of methods used in these paper, the statistical methods used, survey methods, literature research methods, and analyzed the lack, mastered the regulations. Upon completion of the work on the basis of the above, accessed to regular physical education graduate dissertations, journal papers, access to these papers topics, research methodologies, comparing with the dissertation of On-job postgraduate. Then made a questionnaire survey to mentors, graduated and studying postgraduate to get the dissertation quality factors on student, teacher and management, and propose recommendations to improve the quality of paper.The results showed that, the degree dissertation of physical education postgraduate on football of 2005 to 2009 reflects a strong utilitarian in many aspects. In the aspect of research content, the vast majority is applied research, basic research rarely, non-development studies, the proportion is very unbalanced. The most paper’s topics is on the skill and tactics of world series game and the evolvement statue in school., the football itself, the training, teaching and management was researched rarely. There were few studies on inter-disciplinary such as physiological and psychological. No studies was on health, athlete selection, measurement and evaluation. Distribution of study subject was widely, but there were significant imbalances. The subject associated to physical education were studied more, but competitive sports, especially professional football studied less. The research methods was various, most frequently used followed by literature, statistics, expert interviews, questionnaire surveys, observation, but comparative study, measurement, experimental research methods used of less. Larger number, various sources of references were used, but the proportion of foreign language and the core journal literature was less. Types of statistical methods used in small, relatively simple analytical methods, mainly was describe class methods. Through questionnaires and statistical analysis revealed that some postgraduate degree that is not the real value of paper, some instructors believe that the quality of the dissertation downward trend. Instructors busy, training more graduate students, graduate dissertation research is not tight enough with the instructors may be the factors on students dissertation quality. Difficulties in data acquisition, access to documents and other objective difficulties were the most difficult. The utilitarian motives of graduate of the paper, lack of emphasis, busy with their jobs, poor professional basis capable of scientific research, paper management, defense review is not sufficiently rigorous, inadequate funding, the school curriculum, it is also likely to affect the paper quality. Accordingly, this study proposed to strengthen the ranks of master Instructor of physical education building, while controlling the number of graduate enrollment, to take effective measures to increase graduate degree thesis on the degree of attention. In school management, curriculum reform, strengthen and improve the students knowledge structure, strengthen the university library building, appropriate to increase investment in research funding, as well as full-service on-job postgraduates students as "on-job" characteristics.
