The Research on a Kind of Safe-control System Based on ePLC Technology

This paper innovatively combined the ePLC technology with the redundancy technology,and presented a model called dual redundant ePLC model. The model is based on the analysisand research of existed safe-control technology and safety standards. It could make theordinary special controller convert to safe PLC with low cost, which can meet therequirements of the safety’s integrity. The paper mainly finished the following work:Firstly, study the existing safety standards about function safety and the mainarchitecture of foreign safe PLCs, then propose a dual redundant ePLC model. This modeldefines three kinds of modules, called control redundant module, input redundant module andoutput redundant module. They exchange data through a safety field bus.Secondly, improve the system software of ePLC, and make the software adapt to the dualredundant ePLC model. Added the synchronization mechanism, duel algorithm and monitorthread in the original engine code, and calculated the software performance loss caused by thenew synchronization mechanism.Thirdly, apply the dual redundant ePLC model to wind power control system.According to the practical application demand, design the redundant hardware in detail. Thedesign of hardware based on the principle of low coupling between redundancy elements, andhas used much technology of electrical isolation.Finally, analysis the average failure probability of PFD(Probability Failure on Demand)of the designed safe ePLC system by using the method of reliability block diagram. The paperhas also evaluated the security level of the system in accordance with the IEC61508standard.Modern control system is becoming more and more advanced and intelligent, at the sametime, the demand for control safety is also growing. The dual redundant ePLC model appliedby this paper has made some exploration and attempt in the field of control safety, however, itremains need field application’s test for a long time.
