At present, the safe, convenient, simple, comfortable, energy-saving smart home based on the current situation is appearing, which will meet the needs of the people and will become the familes’indispensable necessities. This terminal handheld device, owing a complementary relationship with smart home, has certain development. However, it’s basically used in the operation and controlling these basic functions of the smart home system, scarcely used in detecting and installing smart home system, thus, the research and design of hand-held detection equipment in the smart home system is still necessary.The research is based on a kind of achieved smart home system; giving proposal design of handheld device detection tool based the achieved smart home system. The design mainly includes hardware and software platform choice as well as design of the handheld device detection tool. The tool’s hardware platform of choice is Arm6410, which provides ARM1176JZF-S nuclear with CPU up to667MHZ, as well as serial port to achieve a more affordable serial communication path through the Android operating system. By USB-WIFI module, the tool communicates with the server and the advanced sensor node of the smart home system, to get communication authority, the communication path and RF channel. With the advanced sensor node through CC1101module, it could finish monitoring the communication content among the smart home’s devices. It also uses the popular and the powerful Android platform, by which some important serial data as well as some basic interface could be presented to individuals.The data which is presented in the interface is analyzed by the handheld device detection tool, they could help the testers to test the system effectively, as well as help maintainers to maintain quickly; The rendered RSSI value and signal strength level, could help to look for the best sensor-aware node’s placed bite, and install efficiently.The hand-held detection device does not change any part of the structure of the smart home system, and does not affect the normal working of the system. It just keeps listening the communication as a spectator, with permission of the smart home system. The hand-held detection can not only achieve the function the device, but also ensure the security of the smart home system. Meanwhile, the handheld detection equipment designed in this paper is affordable, small size, portable, and it does not limit the number and types of smart appliances, which belong to the intelligent home system. As long as the communication protocol used by any Internet of Things systems is same as the smart home system, this handheld detection equipment can play its role.
