Abstract


The DB general contracting model has become a popular international mode ofproject management. As the consulting and design business development of Chineseinternational contractors is seriously lagging far behind of the rapid development of thecontracting business, Chinese contractor’s international engineering contractingcapacity has a big gap with large foreign contractor in the international engineeringmarket. It has become urgent problem to research that how to strengthen the level ofdesign and consultancy services of Chinese DB contractor in order to enhance theinternational engineering contracting capacity in the international market. It has a greatsignificance for Chinese contractor to realize intensive and effective growth of theinternational engineering contracting.Firstly, this paper not only makes the analysis to the turnover trends ofinternational contracting and consulting design market and analyzes the state ofdevelopment of the Chinese contractors in the international market, but also analyzesthe correlation between consulting design market and contract market from the point ofglobal, industry, region, country, and make causality test about the twomarkets.Secondly, the paper uses the grey sequence GM (1,1) model to makeprediction of the development scale of international engineering market in the next fiveyears, combined with the prospects for development of DB general contracting model ininternational engineering market, demonstrates the necessity that Chinese internationalcontractors develop the design business to enhance international project generalcontracting capability. Then，the paper obtains the main factors that affect international project general contracting capability based on the existing literature research and theresults of the survey, builds the evaluation index system of international projectcontracting capacity and establishes the evaluation model for quantitative evaluation.Finally, the paper puts forward countermeasures about the construction of generalcontracting capacity for Chinese international contractor from the view of governmentand enterprises.This paper provides certain reference to evaluate and enhance its internationalengineering contracting capacity of Chinese international contractors，and have certaintheoretical and practical significance to further enhance the international marketcompetitiveness of Chinese construction enterprises.
