Abstract


In contemporary society, as the continuous expansion of the total quantity of China’s listed companies, to evaluate the performance of the listed companies has become an important issue. Different stakeholders focus on the problem of the performance of the listed companies, such as owners, managers, creditors and so on. Through the performance evaluation of the listed companies, the owners of the companies can be familiar with the development of the company, and the operators can grasp the general situation which can help people make better development policy, and the investors can make better investment decisions, and the government can also make guidance according to the evaluation results.Through continuous research and discussion, many well-known scholars and experts have made a huge contribution to the theory and system of the performance evaluation of the listed company. But these methods are not perfect. This paper use the Factor analysis to analyze the evaluation index. The analysis is to select the common factor, in order to achieve dimension reduction of indicators that can lose less information. Secondly, the evaluation indicators are assigned weight through the use of the Entropy method which is part of objective weighting method. These steps could obtain the composite score of the listed companies and get the sequence of the performance level of the listed companies.This article mainly includes five parts. The first part is the introduction, it includes background and significance of the topic, research method and innovation. The second part is the analysis of the theory. It introduces related concept, and sorts out the theoretical basis and common methods of the performance evaluation, then makes comparison between the Factor-entropy method and common methods. The third part is the construction of the index system for performance evaluation of listed companies. First, it introduces the model and steps of the Factor-entropy method. Then the index system which covers the indicators of profitability, operation ability, solvency, developing capability and market value is established. The fourth part is empirical analysis section. This paper use the model of the Factor-entropy, and59retail listed companies as an example. Through the model, the composite sore of the59retail listed companies is calculated. With the score, the analysis results are proposed. The fifth part is summary and outlook. First, summarize the full text, then expound the limitation of this paper, in order to be improved in future studies.The purpose of this paper is to use more objective way which is called the Factor-entropy method to evaluate the performance of the listed companies, to contribute the new ideas for the study of the performance evaluation. This is the innovative of this paper.
