Abstract


Financial disintermediation is an important economic phenomenon. The concept of "financial disintermediation" was first proposed in the United States since the1960s. Since then, financial disintermediation phenomenon has been occurred in Japan, Germany and other countries by different levels. Financial disintermediation will be inevitably appeared in those countries with the development of market economy in the financial sector. According to international experience, financial disintermediation phenomenon will become more apparent and be shown long-term trends along with the continuous development of the market economy, as well as the improvement of the financial markets. There are some manifestations of financial disintermediation:slowdown in growth of household savings deposits; The proportion of loans’decline in the corporate finance; Increase in intermediate business and balance sheet business, the expansion of the direct financing market, and The decline in the influence of the banking system;The weakening of the effect of the central bank’s macro-control policies. With the development of China’s financial markets, the phenomenon has appeared in our country, and presents the trend of long-term development. Commercial banks have been always in a dominant position in China’s financial markets. Financial disintermediation constitute the impact of China’s commercial banks, in particular, it have had a certain impact on traditional deposit and loan business of commercial banks, and also affected the level of profitability and operating levels of commercial banks.Firstly, the article combed the financial disintermediation theory and the management theory of commercial bank. Secondly,analyzes the financial disintermediation’s development status,causes and future trends in China, Then, analyzes financial disintermediation’s paths of influence for commercial banks deposit and loan structure.The deposit structure are effected by the changes of residents’financial management concepts and enterprises decision-making for deposits.Affecting the loan structure by changing corporate financing decisions and consumer credit decisions. Then, the article takes the annual data of1999-2011years. The effects of empirical Analysis are done by use of multiple linear regression model and quantitative measurement methods. The results show that:the growth of demand deposits is accelerating, the continue declining of the proportion of time deposits. Short-term loans fell significantly, medium and long-term loans are increased quickly. In short, China’s commercial banks appear imbalance in the asset-liability matching using short-term sources of funds to support the long-term loans. The unreasonable deposit and loan structure will result in liquidity risk of commercial banks in China.Based on the research results, the paper proposes to put forward countermeasures to cope with the impact of financial disintermediation. China’s commercial banks should be adapted to local conditions and strengthen the control of the risks that may be aroused in the innovation when take some measures. The measures are taken to play a positive effect of financial disintermediation and promote the healthy and stable development of the commercial banks.The main innovations of this paper lie in the following two:1. The paper analyzes the financial disintermediation’s paths of influence for commercial banks deposit structure from residents’financial management concepts and enterprises decision-making for deposits; Then it analyzes the financial disintermediation’s paths of influence for commercial banks loan structure from corporate financing decisions and consumer credit decisions.2. Based on previous studies, the effects of empirical Analysis are done by building a multiple linear regression model and using cointegration analysis. It is good to verify the correctness of the theoretical analysis. The empirical study also enriches the financial disintermediation research content.
