Abstract

Ocean environment possesses a highly dynamic characteristic. It leads to a great deal of errors that dynamic factor cause in the multi-beam survey data which are obtained by the multi-beam system working in the ocean. It becomes the main problem of multi-beam sonar data processing to process the survey data.Depth data are collected by multi-beam sonar system. The data is indispensable to the data processing, error correcting of multi-beam sonar data. Precision of depth data determines error correcting effect of sonar data. Depth data precision is raised effectively by determining sound speed exactly and tracking sound waves propagating route precisely to correct sound ray refraction gloss in the water. Using dual-linear interpolating acquires precise depth data to match multi-beam sonar data based on parsing multi-beam sonar survey data and obtaining highly precise depth data in this paper. It is basic of the following residual error correction of multi-beam back-scattering strength.Based on the sound wave propagating discipline that a lot of people developed in the water, this paper sums up computing formula of multi-beam sonar beam footprint and back-scattering strength in the condition of different incidence angle. Exception of back-scattering strength in the multi-beam center beam area is researched and a general formula is given. The general formula calculates the corrected value of back -scattering strength residual error on mirror reflected area. The formula is examined by using mass of processed value of formula parameters. Actual data processing results of back-scattering strength displays that the formula weakens the ridged gloss of center beam area effectively on multi-beam sonar image, and improves validity and veracity of multi-beam image partly.
