Abstract


This thesis takes LiJiWen’s classification dictionary of the South Korean common sayings as main reference material, and according to the benchmarks of common sayings which is settled by the author, this thesis selects 233 South Korea common sayings, and tries to find out the corresponding Chinese common sayings (idiom and two-part allegorical sayings included). Meanwhile, statistical analysis and classification of these common sayings are carried on in this thesis too. The author also tries to do some research from the cultural linguistic aspect. The purpose of this thesis is to reveal the cultural similarities and differences between Korea and China which are reflected by the common sayings of the two countries, with people understanding each other’s culture more objectively, better realizing communication between them.The main components of the thesis are as follows:the first Chapter is the Introduction. This part tells the aim of the thesis, the research results of the previous scholars and the scope and methods of this research. In Chapter2, the concept and the scope of these two countries’common sayings and their corresponding relations between them are introduced. In Chapter 3, the author takes LiJiWen’s classification dictionary of common saying as main reference material. After introducing the seven benchmarks of the common sayings which are settled by the author, the detailed statistical analysis is carried on according to the seven benchmarks and the specific list of the 233 common sayings is listed. The main content of Chapter4 is to divide the 233 common sayings into three kinds, namely the same common sayings between the two countries, the similar common sayings between the two countries, and the unique common sayings in Korea. To some extent, the Chapter5 is the most important part in this thesis. It finds out the cultural similarities and differences which are reflected by the two countries’common sayings from four aspects, namely the daily life (such as the animals, diet and so on), kinships, history and geography, customs and religions. The last Chapter is the Conclusion. Cultural similarities and differences which are mentioned above are summarized. And the thesis points out that the importance of cultural differences’ research should be highlighted when doing research on language and intercultural communication between Korea and China.
