Abstract

Sodium alginate, with porous internal structure and special chemical structure,is a good adsorbent and the embedding medium.Embedded technology can be used by adding the polymers(polyvinyl Alcohol, poly ethylene oxide) and powdered activated carbon to sodium alginate to made from gel ball for removing heavy metals ions(copper, lead, cadmium) in the wastewater, and adsorption mechanism and its adsorption effect were studied,so a highperformance adsorbent can been developed. These results were concluded:The most effective adsorbent was prepared with 2%SA, and a longer immobilization time resulted in a slightly more effective adsorbent for heavy metal ions removal;the longer immobilized time, the better tightness and mechanical strength; the fit quality of SA was from 10mL to 15mL,the more effective pH was from 4 to 6;When the adsorption time is 10min,the reaction were finished 70%to 80%.The adsorbing kinetics equilibriums are reached with after 2h.The adsorption capacity of three gel balls are SA-PGO>SA-PVA>SA;the effectiveness of SA-PEO adsorbent for metal removal followed the order of pb2+>Cu2+>Cd2+;the behavior of the three kinds of heavy metal all accorded with equation of adsorption of the class reaction kinetics:t/Q=kt+ b;SA-PEO gel ball adsorbed heavy metal with selective;the adsorbent was effectively regenerated by 1mol·L-1 HCL;the regenerated adsorbent was reusable for metal removal although with a slightly reduced capacity for the target metal;by taking sodium alginate-polyethylene oxide as adsorption agent, taking powder activated carbon as entrapment agent, the best conditions of immobilization and adsorption Cd2+ of SA-PEO-AC gel balls were studied by using orthogonal test. The best conditions were:immobilization time was 12h,the quantity of AC was 0.1g,the immobilization agents concentration of CaCl2 was 2%,the adsorption time was 2h,the pH of solution was 6. The Cd2+ adsorption isotherm of SA-PEO-AC gel bead accorded with Langmuir model and the maximal adsorption amount was 29.76mg·g-1.During the research of adsorption mechanism of polymer gel balls, these results were concluded:he adsorbent containing hydroxyl and carboxyl functional groups,so there may be ion exchange reaction and complexation reaction;adsorbent material structure due to the special nature of its internal formed by the aperture size increasing the adsorption surface area, this is also One of the adsorbing reasons. At the same time, these channels provided access for the entry of organic matter and microbial metabolites,so it can be used as a microbial immobilization of the carrier.
