Abstract


Most of the novels about CaiZi and JiaRen rise of in the late Ming and early Qing Dynasty are love stories about CaiZi and JiaRen , which "praise females and their special abilities "as a prominent feature . The image of "JiaRen" in this kind of novel is a typical model and also highly significant, especially concerning the idea of love and marriage , as an important part of the female’s Marriage Evolution in ancient Chinese literature , and have had a profound impact in the Ming and Qing Dynasties , even modern women’s idea of love and marriage. This thesis uses academically recognized pure Caizi-jiaren novels of the late of Ming Dynasty and the early Qing Dynasty as a research base. From the evolution of the idea of love and marriage in traditional Chinese literature, to exploration of "intelligence" in "JiaRen", and finally to do an analysis of JiaRen’s idea of love and marriage in late Ming and early Qing Dynasty novels, and thereby analysizing the formation factors of "JiaRen" ideal of love and marriage.This thesis is divided into four parts. The first part , combines ancient Chinese literature of the idea female model marriage , summarizing "Meiren ’shi’ YingXiong"、"ShuNv ’pei’ JunZi"、"JiaRen ’lian’ CaiZi" this three models to study the evolution of love and marriage ideas . The second part, analies JiaRen’s idea of love in the late Ming and early Qing Dynasty novels. On the basis of texted analysis, summarizes this idea of love: aesthetic love; poetic love; conventional love, and then makes concrete inferences about the chanllenges to tradition and the convertion to the new. The third part, analyses JiaRen’s idea of marriage. JiaRen’s idea of marriage contains more obvious contradictions than her idea of love. The thesis primarily focuses on private marriage and Fengzhi marriage, using the loyalty of polygamous families as a perspective. Finally, from handing down of tradition, impact upon social customs, as well as, the above mentioned three aspects, specifically analysize the formation of JiaRen’s idea of love and marriage.JiaRen’s idea of love and marriage in Caizi-jiaren novels in the late Ming Dynasty and the early Qing Dynasty is plays a connecting role linking the evolution of the concept in the whole of Chinese ancient literature. The contradiction and unity of love and marriage is the female ideological process in the embodiment of the concept of marriage. The idea of love and marriage is the mark of the advancement of female ideological consciousness. This must be recognized as a point of historical significance, and of converse is a historical and social advancement of an order that cannot be ignored.
