With the largest and complexity of modern process industry systems,it is more and more important to diagnose the fault of the system in time and correctly to avoid large economical loss causing by accidents and even breakdowns of industrial productions.Therefore,It is very important to research and develop real-time fault diagnosis system.The application of Expert System in fault diagnosis can solve a lot of problems that cannot be solved by ordinary method.Meanwhile,the efficiency and reliability of building a Expert System would be improved a lot by using Expert System tool.It is necessary to compare the Expert Systems developed by different Expert System tools.Knowledge acquisition is the bottleneck of Expert System.This problem can be solved by using data mining technology,so this is another problem needed to be solved that how to use data mining technical into knowledge discovery.Two real-time fault diagnosis system were developed by INTEMOR' dissertation">INTEMOR and CLIPS' dissertation">CLIPS,a power simulation system based on virtual DCS was used as the diagnosis object and the test platform.Firstly,the paper studied the method of designing a real-time fault diagnosis system based on expert system shell(INTEMOR).Using OPC to acquire the real-time simulation data from the simulation system,and transmit the data into INTEMOR by real-time data transmision API.The knowledge base was builded by INTEMOR KBR and IML,the author also developed a hyper media online operate manual.The research result shows that a real-time fault diagnosis system can be builded very fast by using INTEMOR,however,the flexibility and data processing ability of the system is limited.Because of the shortcoming of INTEMOR,the author studied how to develop a real-time fault diagnosis system by CLIPS,and realized it. CLIPS was used to builded the knowledge base and served as search engine, data acquisition program and data exchanging program with database was programmed by VC++, dynamic process data and some other system information was stored in SQL SERVER. The result shows that compared to the method of using INTEMOR,the flexibility of the system is much higher,although it is more difficult and there is more problem needed to be considered. The system can diagnose the faults based on real-time and history data,and the knowledge base of the system is extendible.Than, The paper tried to use association rule data mining method to discover knowledges on the rotating machinery.The discovered knowledge was used to builded a knowledge base,the test result on the knowledge base shows that it is feasible to use association rule to discover the fault knowledge.Meanwhile,similarities and differences between association rule and neural network when it is used in fault diagnosis was presented. At last, the paper introduced how to use association rule in optimization by a real project.
