Abstract


Software development is a kind of work by no means free of creativity. According to the summary evolved after many years, the important factors are people, technology, and process which is also the most important one, although there are many others. Rational Unified Process (RUP) is a software development process, based on uses-case driven approach, attaching much importance to the framework, and adopting the methods of iteration and increment. RUP, moreover, is an open procedure, allowing people to make some proper cuts in terms of individual needs.This text, founded on RUP and on a basis of proper cuts, draws a comparison between traditional software engineering and RUP, and brings forward a practicable demand analysis and modeling method. It is concluded from the author’s own experience which is an accumulation of solutions of problems and difficulties encountered in practical software development. And the method is given as following: makes the activity diagram models to express the business models, makes the graph, state, and alternating graph models of conceptual layer to express system’s logic structure and logic acts, makes test cases to express system’s demands, and has depicted demand analysis and modeling process concept. Whereas it should be pointed out that the difference between this method and other procedures lies in the phrase of demand analysis. Because it has combined several applied tools, such as VISIO and EXCEL, so that the system can catch users’ true needs exactly in ultra short time. Besides, in order to improve the accuracy of the project process’s estimation, the development workload estimation will be started in the demand research stage, bringing the program much closer to practical development.In the condition of limited development team, and medium and small sized projects, the concrete steps are elaborated, by way of developing tourism business and checkout system. Meanwhile, in this way a new method based on uses-case driven approach and the use of subsidiary tools, such as VISIO and EXCEL to affirm user demands is come up with. According to it, modeling for system analysis, design is accomplished and the entire process will finally be carried out.The practical result shows that it can greatly shorten the development cycle, avoid ambiguities in demands, and advance the success rate of the program and customer satisfaction through this method. The text, in the light of concrete conditions in the author’s company, has specified how to manage program in the medium and small software development enterprise, simultaneously, has made discussions and practice about methods for rapid development of enterprise management system.
