HF radar applications increased the sea ships and aircraft target detection range , expanding the warning area , the military has a wide range of applications, more and more national attention . With the extensive application of high-frequency radar , radar frequency selection has become an important research topic , because HF radars operate in very complex electromagnetic environment , there is a lot of clutter and interference , noise and interference of these were associated with the frequency about . HF radar frequency selection properly, it will seriously affect the high-frequency radar target detection . In order to play a high-frequency radar excellent detection performance , you need to optimize selection HF radar operating frequency. This work includes the following aspects: First, discusses the ionospheric propagation characteristics of high-frequency electromagnetic waves . In order to avoid the high-frequency radar echo in the ionosphere , the first structure on the ionosphere , ionospheric effects on both frequency electromagnetic waves are discussed , and a detailed discussion of the frequency of the electromagnetic wave reflection maximum prediction problem , and then a brief discussion of the ionization layer on the electromagnetic wave absorption loss . These are the frequency selection to avoid interference of ionospheric echoes foundation . Secondly, for the high-frequency radar signal detection of the two main background noise - radio noise and clutter, this paper also gives a more detailed discussion . Using ITU 's report on radio noise has been calculated , but also for the numerical simulation of sea clutter . Again, the study of high-frequency electromagnetic wave propagation characteristics of the sea , calculate the propagation loss high frequency waves of the sea . And high-frequency region of the target scattering cross section calculations, gives a simple analysis . Finally, the study high-frequency radar frequency optimization method chosen , obtained according to the above various factors , considering the frequency of HF radar optimal choice .
