Abstract


Huize County of Yunnan Province is one of the 73 key counties of the state’s support, at the same time it is a typical large agricultural county in mountain areas. Rural poverty is prominent, while the rural poor population accounts for a large proportion. In addition, the current old-age security is nearly a neglected area, and rural social old-age security system has difficulty taking a step forward, which will seriously restricts Huize County’s future economic and social development. Therefore, how to make full use of the existing resources and in the view of the current socio-economic situation in Huize County, to address the present and future old-age issues in rural poverty areas, so that the elderly population in rural poverty will be "relying on when alive, getting cure when sick, sharing a sense of security when old" has become an important issue.In this thesis Switching theory、the Need theory and other related theory to sociology are applied to do the empirical study through field interviews and questionnaire survey of the elderly population in rural poverty in Huize County. It shows that the household old-age pension of the elderly population in Huize County has been a great challenge, especially the elderly family old-age security in rural poor families is precarious, and the social old-age security in the rural poverty of the elderly population is in completely vacuum; nevertheless, the security system of current minimum standard of living for the rural poor has played a certain role. Based on the above analysis, this thesis seeks to explore the construction of a security system for the elderly population in poverty in Huize County.This thesis consists of five parts, the introduction serves as the first part, clarifying the topic basis, significance of research, literature review, research ideas and research methodology, etc.; the second part is the theoretical basis, which expounds the theoretical basis for this study. The third part first describes the current situation of old-age security of the elderly population in rural poverty, then analyses the issues and the impacts of the rural old-age security. On the basis of the above analysis, the fourth part puts forward the constructing the "a multi-level" old-age security system suited for the elderly population in rural poverty. And the final part is the conclusion, in which there are main findings, implications, and limitations of the research.
