Abstract

The purpose of this dissertation is to prepare self-assembled films on copper surfaces for protection copper against corrosions. Using electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) and polarization curve methods, the corrosion inhibition of Self-assembled monolayers (SAMs) of environmental- -friendly inhibitors phytic acid, sodium molybdate, BTA and their compound upon copper in 3.5%NaCl solution were studied. We have studied influences of some factors on film qualities. With scanning electron microscopy (SEM) testing, the surface analysis of the inhibitor film on the copper surface is carried out .From the research mentioned above, the results are showed as the following:(1) The results indicate that IP6, sodium molybdate and BTA had inhibition effect for copper corrosion. IP6 showed the best inhibition effect for copper corrosion at pH=11.3, the concentration of 10 mmol/L, assembled times of 24h, and the inhibition efficiency was 68.27%. Sodium molybdate showed the best inhibition effect at the concentration of 0.05 mmol/L, assembled times of 24h, and the inhibition efficiency was 62.39%.BTA showed the best inhibition effect at the concentration of 0.2 mmol/L, assembled times of 24h, and the inhibition efficiency was 68.40%.(2) The SAMs of phytic acid possessed some unfilled defect sites due to its rigid structure. A higher surface coverage was obtained with the SAMs of the compound of phytic acid and sodium molybdate, indicating an improvement in the quality of the films. The inhibition efficiency, therefore, was improved and reached 89.66%.(3) Layer-by-layer Self-assembly films of IP6 and BTA was prepared. Copper electrode was immersed in IP6 solution after immersed in BTA. The inhibition efficiency was improved and reached 87.69%.(4)The result of electrochemical method and SEM showed that the SAMs of phytic acid, sodium molybdate and BTA were much more compact. The inhibition efficiency was improved and reached 91.84%.
