Abstract

Cu/SiO2 catalyst is widely used for its low-temperature performance. It can be used on the hydrogenation from Dimethyl Oxalate to Methyl Glycollate which is produced from syngas. Catalysts with different Cu-loading were prepared by homogeneous deposition-precipitation method, catalyst performance were studied at different LHSV, H2/DMO and system pressure. The best result is 20 wt% Cu/SiO2, LHSV=1.0 g/g cat/h, H2/DM0=80, P=1.0 MPa.Catalyst activity decreases obviously when reaction condition changes to the initializing condition after reaction sometime on different conditions. There is CO in the off-gas, effects of CO, H2O and Methyl Glycollate were studied. The results show that all of them can decrease catalyst activity. Catalyst deactivitation caused by CO is reversible, catalyst can be regenerated through stopping feedstock and H2 flowing. H2O can result in Cu wastage and shortens sinte time. Effect of Methyl Glycollate is more obvious when reacts at lower temperature. It’s hard for Methyl Glycollate desorption from catalyst surface. MG takes up a few of active sites and can produce some macromolecule.
