Abstract

Based upon single-side-barb structure, this thesis research the contact’s retention force. The main way is analysis in theory, computer simulation, experiment and orthogonal Finite Element Method. The thesis developed scientific analysis method for compliant structure. The detail research performed is as follow:1. Analysis on status, current situation and development direction in modern electrical connector for contact retention.2. Research on insertion and withdraw process of the contact into housing, summarize the structure characteristics, design principle, and key process points for contact retention area.3. Build the contact retention feature 3D model and computer simulation. Get the insertion and withdraw mechanism by FE analysis on ABAQUS platform.4. Introduce the experiment method measuring the insertion and withdraw force. Verify the finite element analysis result by statistics theory.5. Expatiate the Orthogonal Finite Element Method. Analysis on design of contact feature with Orthogonal Finite Element Method. Optimize the section geometry parameter of contact barb.
