Abstract

There’s no doubt that the vigorous development of the feminist movement had a tremendous impact to the mankind’s ideological, cultural and art of the second half of the 20th century. It not only broadened the outlook of people, and made them have very different views from finding many ingredients that they had not been aware of in the classic works and in the real world in the past, more importantly, it changed the male perspective to everything in the world(including the perspective women look at themselves). It gave the people’s thinking a unprecedented impact. Since then, people can not go back to the era that the voices of women have been neglected. On this basis feminism literaty criticism flourished rapidly. This thesis just study the motif of housewife sued stepson from the feminism angle.The tale of housewife sued stepson existed in Greek and Hebrew mythology, in different times, the theme was changing gradually with diversification of culture and the alteration of notion, but the essential narrative mode was saved. In history of western literature, from Euripides to Racine, Molière then to Marina Tsvetaeva and O’Neille, many authors selected this motif to conceive. They had the overall character, such as the self-conscious or unmindful attention to the feminine consciousness, and the individual character, such as the formal variety of the motif because of the discrepant attentive extent to the feminine consciousness in the different times, etc.This thesis choose five western classics—the comedy by Molière and the Tragedy by Euripides, Racine, Marina Tsvetaeva and O’Neille as examples to outline the motif of housewife sued stepson and probe into the spirits of the self-deconstruction of traditional western famine value in the authors’ creative thought and literary representation from the angle of feminism.
