Abstract


Since the beginning of Form 10+3, regional cooperation in East Asia has experienced a decade of rapid development and gained fruitful achievement. It is described as the process of“South-East Asia rediscovering North-East Asia”, and one important part of the process is the awaken of East Asia Awareness which would be significant not only in the expansion of cooperation in East Asia but also in the construction of East Asia Community. China should also take East Asia Awareness into account when shaping future strategy in East Asia.In a sense, Regional Awareness is the symbol of a region’s naissance. In order to ascertain the academic framework, the author tries to find out the definition, the dynamics and conditions, the connotation and the function of Regional Awareness through history and theories. East Asia Awareness is members’recognition to the region and the membership of countries in the region. It has awakened because of member’s pursuit to benefits and conditions either universal or inimitable.The current East Asia Awareness is still fragile. Realistic problems and other uncertain factors make its future full of obstacles. China as a core-state in East Asia should do its endeavor to protect and strengthen East Asia Awareness.
