Teacher’s performance appraisal, as a kind of organization performance appraisal, is the important content of the public departments’ performance appraisal. The research of the paper is limited in the scope of teaching-oriented universities and colleges. Taking a certain university in Wuhan as an example, it researched this university teacher’s performance appraisal system. Through clarifying the thoughts , methods and theoretical bases of teacher’s performance appraisal , it analyzed the present domestic and foreign situation of study on the teacher’s performance appraisal. Being combined with the characteristics of teacher’s performance appraisal in teaching-oriented universities, the paper preliminarily analyzed the problems and drawbacks of the teacher’s performance appraisal system of the teaching-oriented universities and colleges in our country. On the basis of above analysis, it put forward optimizing measures as to the teacher’s performance appraisal system of the teaching-oriented universities and colleges.The thesis is divided into four parts.In the first part , it analyzed the backgrounds of the topic, limited and defined relevant core concepts , and illustrated the aim, significance , thoughts and methods of the teacher’s performance appraisalIn the second part, starting from the origin of the performance appraisal, it put forward the designing indexes methodology of teacher’s performance appraisal, and illustrated the theoretical base of the teacher’s performance appraisal of the teaching-oriented universities and colleges.In the third part, it made a review and analysis on the domestic and foreign research of teacher’s performance appraisal system of the teaching-oriented universities and colleges, and illustrated present teacher’s performance appraisal system of the teaching-oriented universities and colleges in China, and analyzed the main problems and weak points.In the forth part, it put forward thoughts and measures to optimize teacher’s performance appraisal system of the teaching-oriented universities and colleges in China in terms of procedure, index, method and thoughts.
