Being with advantages such as low drive voltages, high efficiency, flexible substrate, and so on,organic light-emitting diodes(OLEDs) have been developing rapidly in recent years as a new type of solid plate of light-emitting devices.White OLEDs can be widely used in lighting and backlight source of LCD with a prosperous application in fields of solid-state lighting and flat panel displays, thus it has become a hot research field. As TAPC has two emission peaks at 450nm(the intrinsic emission from TAPC) and 580nm(origins from the cross-transition of the TTA subunits in different TAPC molecules).According to the principles of white light synthesis and in order to simplify the structure of the device,in this paper we explored the possibility to fabricate white OLEDs by using TAPC,conclusions are drawn as following.(1) In our experiments,we find that the emission band centered at 480nm in electroluminescence(EL) spectra of the TAPC/BCP interface does not origin from TAPC by comparing the photoluminescence spectrum and absorption spectrum of the TAPC film.Further, our experimental data on EL spectra of laminated structure devices ITO/TAPC(50nm)/BCP(5nm)/TAPC(10nm)/BCP(10nm)/Al and those of fuzzy-interface structure devices ITO/TAPC(50nm)/TAPC:BCP(15nm)/BCP(10nm)/A1, the emission peak at 480nm is determined to be the electroplex emission from TAPC/BCP interface.(2) The EL intensity from single-layer device ITO/TAPC/A1 is very weak, and its enhanced emission intensity can be obtained by adding BCP as a hole-blocking layer and electron-transporting layer.By effectively making use of the electroplex emission from the TAPC/BCP interface, white OLED ITO/TAPC(60nm)/BCP(20nm)/Al was obtained with CIE coordinates at(0.34,0.31) and brightness of 120cd/m~2 at 18V.(3) By using A1Q as electron-transporting layer and green-light emissive layer, and BCP as hole-blocking layer, white OLED ITO/TAPC(60nm)/BCP(10nm)/A1Q (10nm)/A1 was obtained by optimizing the thickness of each active layers.Under the voltage of 17V,its brightness reached 8400cd/m~2 with color coordinates at(0.33,0.36) and current efficiency of 2.9cd/A.
