Abstract
The development of modern wireless communication technologies requires higher performance and new types of microwave circuit. The continuous emergence of new fabrication process and design methods also shows this trend. The band-pass filter, as one of the important devices in microwave circuits, has been investigated deeply and widely with great progress, especially in the area of miniaturization. There are more and more filters realizing in different skills due to the development of microwave technology, among them, dual-mode band-pass microwave filter is one of the most effective method for miniaturization. The CCS TL, a new structure of transmission line, occupies a smaller size than the conventional micro-strip line, which can effectively reduce the size of filters when applied in the ring resonator. Meanwhile, a spiral DGS can be adopted to suppress harmonic effect to improve the overall performance of the filter. The organic combination of the three structures mentioned above will give a much better result of the miniaturization of filters. In this paper, two band-pass filters working at the center frequencies of 915MHz and 2.5GHz, respectively, has been designed and fabricated by using complementary conducting transmission lines and defected ground structure (DGS). The simulation result shows good performance. The complementary conducting strip transmission line has been introduced in order to reduce the size of this compact band-pass filter without disturbing the original performance. Spiral DGS has been employed to suppress the harmonic resonance and thus improve the overall performance. From the results obtained, it can be concluded that this band-pass filter, which works at 915MHz, can be used in the microwave integrated circuits based on IEEE 802.15.4 wireless standard to reduce the size of communication equipments.
