Abstract


Household contract system in rural China not only provides an effective motivate mechanism for the microeconomic body but also pushes farm households to the market frontier and makes them face various potential risks independently. As an institutional arrangement for organizing farmers, farmer cooperative organization enters market and is deemed as one of effective ways to resolve contradictions between small farmers and large market, promote agricultural development,increase farmers’incomes and promote harmonious urban and rural development. However, farmer cooperative organization is still criticized as low-effective by some economists, because of the dim definition of property right of cooperatives and too much agency cost.Farmer cooperative organization began to sprout and develop sine the mid 1980’s, and then became a revitalizing force in many areas of China in the 20th century. How does China farmer cooperative organization compete in the fierce market and how does it overcome its own weakness and provide an effective motivate mechanism and improve organization’s efficiency accordingly?Therefore, the dissertation researches into the farmer cooperative organizations in Sichuan province with the analytical means of new institutional economics and Game Theory combining with China‘s actual condition of agriculture and rural economics.Based on the research results of predecessors, firstly, this dissertation introduces and analyzes the present main motivate mechanism of farmers with actual condition of farmer cooperative organizations, including the motivate mechanism of public welfare, income and reputation mechanism; secondly, summarizes stages of the motivate mechanism and discusses the development solutions; fourthly, to exemplify through the real cases in Sichuan province and summarize the actual condition of motivate mechanism of farmers in Sichuan and finally to bring forward the reasonable advices.
