Abstract


Digital storage oscilloscope (Digital Storage Oscilloscope, DSO), as the most commonly used electronic measuring instruments, has become the basic experimental teaching equipment of electronic and information technology professionals in college. Because of the characteristics of device’s operation itself, teachers often need to spend more time to guide student in the experimental teaching of digital storage oscilloscope. So the teaching efficient is low and there is heave burden on teachers.With the deeply reform of higher education teaching, the new teaching philosophy, teaching methods and teaching devices are emerging. The development of information technology, especially computer network technology, greatly promotes the research and development of more efficient technology of network teaching. Nowadays, there are more and more interfaces of digital storage oscilloscope. In addition to the USB interface, Ethernet interface is becoming the standard of digital storage oscilloscopes. This has laid a good hardware foundation of its network teaching.This article completes the development and design of teaching software of digital storage oscilloscope which is based on the exploration of its network teaching model. It uses a particular brand of digital storage oscilloscope (with Ethernet interface) as the hardware platform and use LabWindows/CVI as developing tool with virtual instrument technology. This software is used for teaching in laboratory. Teachers do the operation and can watch oscilloscope window of every student’s operation in turn. This is similar to video surveillance, also the teacher can operate student’s oscilloscope remotely to do a presentation or to correct there mistake. But for these, the teacher can use the software to guide student detailed with third-party chat software. The software of digital storage oscilloscope network education can substantially reduce the burden on teachers to improve teaching effectiveness. This software is currently promoting in some colleges.
