Qinghai Plateau is located in arid cold regions , climate change dramatically , long winter and short summer , the cold season long , the annual average temperature is low , large temperature , dry climate, annual average rainfall is 250mm or less. The area of asphalt pavement in such harsh climatic conditions , prone to cold cracking, semi-rigid base shrinkage cracks and other diseases . So cold region of Qinghai province arid asphalt pavement special climatic conditions in its mechanical state analysis, structural design of asphalt pavement in the region has a very important significance. Firstly, dry and cold areas in Qinghai characteristics of the environment , traffic volume and traffic composition , the region 's three main highway asphalt pavement structure, major damage asphalt pavement types were investigated and analyzed based on the above findings in the area of asphalt pavement damage causes. Then, in reference to relevant literature and research results , based on a semi- rigid asphalt pavement as the research object , using ANSYS finite element software , the establishment of thermal - structural coupled two-dimensional finite element model . Calculation of the structural layer of asphalt pavement under the action of the temperature cycle thermal stress , the thickness of the surface layer of asphalt , asphalt mixture temperature shrinkage coefficient modulus asphalt surface , diurnal temperature range , grass-roots thickness and modulus on asphalt pavement structure layers of thermal stress were investigated. The drought and made preslit cold regions such as semi-rigid base asphalt pavement structure, calculation and analysis of this type of pavement structure under different temperature cycles preslit pitch temperature stress situation . Finally, the proposed preslit semi-rigid Base Asphalt Pavement preslit reasonable method for determining the distance between the cold and drought low temperature cracking of asphalt pavement design method to determine the dry and cold low temperature cracking of asphalt pavement design process .
