Bi Feiyu has been steady in working in the recent 20 years, and the greatness of his achievement is perfectly obvious. His creation course can be roughly divided into two periods: the avant-gardism period and the realism one.After transition, Bi Feiyu pays attention to the common custom life, writes the ways of the world with the writing style which is full of sentiment. His works unfold the human’s pursuit of the authority and struggles under the authority extrusion, plus the maintenance to dignity and setbacks after suffering, as well as the helplessness and ache facing realistic destiny.At present the criticism research to Bi Feiyu mainly concentrates in the work subject, the content and form of the text, as well as the character images and so on. And most of the criticism is the analysis to the female characters, but very few to the male ones, even may say nearly none.At first, this article makes a brief introduction to the viewpoint and concept about the related masculine makings, authority and dignity.Next, combining these theories, I explain Bi Feiyu’s novel by the way of intensive reading, trying to analyze the masculine images in his writing.The authority and dignity have been the key points which Bi Feiyu pays attention to. Compared with the female characters, the male ones in Bi’s writing can reflect his attitude towards the authority and dignity much better. With the help of this breakthrough point, this article explains the masculine characters in Bi’s writing.The first part of this paper elaborates the male’s pursuit of the authority, and the injury to the disadvantaged groups. And then, the second one approaches the male’s in-depth cultural mentality from the two aspects:the construction and loss of the dignity. The third part selectively analyzes two typical characters Duanfang and Doctor Wang, makes an overall description to the masculine group, and approaches the existing circumstances of the male. The last but not the least, it reveals Bi’s thought towards the life, the male, the power, and the dignity. My paper is quite certain for his humanity concern.
