Abstract


Verbal Humor is a rather charming language phenomenon , has a special pragmatic functions . People want to be able to appreciate and use verbal humor , but because of differences in cultural background , social factors and individual emotional aspects , there are some difficulties in understanding the verbal humor . Many scholars have studied from different angles humor, but because there is more or less limitations , and can not fully interpret the verbal humor . In view of this, we Treviso Thelen Adaptation Theory , try Pragmatic Perspective from an entirely new interpretation of verbal humor mechanism . Treviso Thelen language use is a continuous process of language selection for the description and explanation of the use of language provides four angles . He believes that the realization of pragmatic meaning is conform to the results of the context and language structure . Under the guidance of the Adaptation Theory select more verbal humor as a representative of the novel \verbal humor . From the analysis , the following conclusions: verbal humor, language selection , Verbal Humor Interpretation mechanism in the language structure and context of the interaction between conform .
