Abstract


The quality of American higher education is at the top level all over the world, which cannot be separated by the qualities of their university teachers, especially the wisdom of doctoral students. After World WarⅡ, the main direction of doctoral students’ employment is university teachers. As Teacher input channels, doctoral training is of most importance. In this paper, from the aspects of the changes of the training objectives, training process, personalized curriculum, breadth of content and curriculum innovation, and development of graduate teaching assistant system to improve future teaching and research skills, the auther gives the final conclusion of World WarⅡthe United States Characteristics of doctoral education and its social significance.The first part introduces the history of American doctoral education process, through the understanding of the development process of doctoral education in the United States after World War II development.The second part describes the main employment trends of PhD of the United States after World War II, focused on trends in the development of the teaching profession for new teachers, tenured professor requirements and qualifications for promotion to the U.S. doctoral curriculum, teaching doctoral training skills and research capacity of the graduate teaching assistant system and explore issues such as training courses, and through case studies, try to understand the American university doctoral course study situationin The third part, the historical experiences of doctoral curriculum in the United States after World War II are summarized.Fourth section summarizes the development and reforming of doctoral education in the United States after World War II and its significance meaning to higher education.
