Abstract

The chinesation of the Buddhism, in regards to the evolution of chinese tradition, has had great meanings. It vivified Chinese Buddhism in the tripod-balance powers with Confucianism and Taoism, deeply influenced chinese history processus in the course of events, manners and morals. The Buddhism, after its penetring in China, for the convenience of social demands, should pass an uninterrupted chinesation. From ideologist point of view, the processus realized through three stages:The first stage:from the beginning of buddhist propaganda to Liang-Jin dynasty, that is the commencement of Chinese Buddhism,in which, Buddhism-essentially basing on its original thoughts -- took root in China land, and got developed by mingling together with chinese traditional culture. Factually, that time Buddhists activities were limited in translans. The second stage:from the epoch of Division between North and South to the Sui -Tang reigns till the Five Dynasties, Chinese Buddhism developed autonomously to its apex; it also was the completion period of Chinesation of the Budhism. The third stage:from Bei-Song dynasty to Modern Time, the Chinese Buddhism gradually went down to weak status. At the first stage, there were meaning contributions of many venerable buddhist bonzes, and among them, Bonze Dao-An of Dong-Jin was a veteran. He was simultaneously Buddhist philosophy theorician, religious practician and organisator. He had great influences on Chinese Sangha Formation and Chinese Buddhist Doctrinal System establishment. Thus, the studies concerning Dao-An works so long have been very important to the scolars and buddhists spheres.
