Abstract


With the rapid development of the millimeter-wave technology and applications , the frequency of the measuring instruments have become increasingly demanding . Vector network analyzer (VNA) is one of the most important instruments in the microwave and millimeter wave technology to achieve accurate measurements in the millimeter - wave band , is of great significance to the development and application of millimeter wave technology . This thesis based on some of the key issues in the 26.5-40GHz the Agilent 8720ET 20GHz vector network analyzer spread spectrum technology . The technology uses a new downconversion , both reached the millimeter wave band broadband requirements , and avoid the use of broadband harmonic mixers , greatly reduces the overall cost . Spread Spectrum module is connected directly to the in VNA measurement port , the measurement of the Ka-band standard waveguide interface , without requiring the instrument itself has a millimeter wave measurement functions , with good versatility . The spreading module multiplier and inverter pieces of using commercial MMIC chip , signal separation devices are designed and broadband high directivity waveguide directional coupler . The synchronous sweep of the local oscillator signal source and the VNA measurement operation is controlled by a program on the PC, the program using Visual Basic prepared in accordance with the VISA standard USB / GPIB cable VNA communication with high portability . The single-port calibration and simplifies the TRL calibration algorithm also prepared and produced TRL calibration waveguide standard parts , the for spreading measurement system calibration . Experiment will Agilent 8720ET vector network analyzer spreading prototype of the Ka-band single-port measurement system , port maximum output power of 15dBm , maximum input power of 31dBm , 26.5-40GHz system calibration after the effective measurement range of more than 30dB .
