Abstract


Along with the advancement of urbanization, urban-rural dual structure is very obvious and it makes a fusion culture of urban and rural. Starting from the urban and rural environmental construction with harmony, and creating "city in the garden and garden in the city" picture is one of important content to realize urban-rural integration.Practical planning is the object of study. Taking the application of Genius Loci on the practical planning of Garden City as its main topic, using the method of literature, case analysis and deductive-inductive method to find an effective way which inquires about both unifies urban and rural merit, and loads bearing culture inheritance and development. Proposed the concept and principles of practical planning to Garden City on Genius Loci initially, and evaluated two different typical types of practical planning Cases of Chengdu’s "World Modern Garden City". The main conclusion is as follows.1) Four sugestions were proposed to the practice of Chengdu’s "World Modern Garden City":to perfect the "world of modern garden city" planning system; to develop " World Modern Garden City " on planning the implementation of standards and planning guidelines; to strengthen regional cooperation, and to optimize the allocation of resources; to improve the multi-monitoring mechanism.2) Based on Genius Loci, the practical planning of Garden City is an effective way to unify both urban and rural merit, and load bearing culture inheritance and development.3) Based on Genius Loci, the practical planning of Garden City is with full respect for the status inside and outside venues, culture, and people.4) The principles of the practical planning to Garden City on Genius Loci is clearly directed and workable.
