Abstract

Li Se, named Yinshu, called Muyin, came from Zhongqingdao Hanzhou. He was born in the first year of Tianli. With his exceptional intelligence and good memory as a child, he passed the national entrance exam at the age of 14.Because of his father , Li Gu, a director of Yuan Dynasty, Li Se was able to study in Guozijian. After three years of hard work, he achieved a lot in Neo-Confucianism. After Gongbie became the emperor, Li Se was sent to the eastern province and took charge of it. Then he assined as the leader of many important positions, such as SuYongFuCheng, LiBuShiLang, and so on. His official position ranked higher than his father at a time. At the early Ming Dynasty, he was sent to the Ming Dynasty as the ambassador. With the advent of Lee dynasty he resigned.Li Se is one of the prolific writers in Korean Peninsula, with a fifty-five–volume Muyin Corpus famous home and abroad, among which are the thirty-five-volume Muyin Poems and the twenty-volume Muyin Essays.Li Se is a significant thinker, writer and politician in his day. The world owed a lot to his Neo-Confucianism, which is the concern of the present academic realm. His great thinking of Admiration-of-China should not be ignored but deserves a quest, for it is not only a presentation of his personal thoughts but also a symbol of the entire Gaoli people and even can be regarded as the ideology of the Korean .Li Se witnessed the demise of two dynasties and the rising of other two. As a Confucian at that time, the orthodox thinking influenced what he did. He stood against Li dynasty but stayed close to and was nostalgic about Yuan Dynasty. On the other hand, he had to accept the fact that the Korean court was submissive to Ming Dynasty.In his life, Li Se wrote a great many biographies and epigraphs for Korean politicians, some of whom had been ambassadors or officials in Yuan Dynasty, so a large number of political facts of Yuan dynasty were recorded , which will fill in the gaps of Chinese history in this period.Now both scholars and critics speak highly of Li Se by saying that“he is the second person , only after Cui Zhiyuan, who exerts a great influence on the study of Korea and Han. So it’s necessary to probe into his works. Considering most of the current researchers are exploring the philosophy in Muyin Corpus, this thesis is set out to analyze the historical value and his contribution to literature form in his works.
