Abstract


The study of second language learning strategies began in the early 1970s, mainly to describe learning successful language learning strategies and learning strategies to classify. For English learning strategies in the past 20 years, scholars both theory comprehensively expounded, but also a wide range of case studies. However, these investigations targeting more than an ordinary college students, little research has targeted social adult learners. Chinese English learners, social adult students are special groups in age, educational background, English language proficiency, motivation particularity, also different from the ordinary college students in the use of verbal learning strategies, therefore, necessary to its spoken English learning strategy use to investigate the situation in order to find effective learning strategies to improve the level of spoken. This paper tries to based on the theory of second language learning strategies and investigating the use of verbal learning strategies in adult English language training institutions in the Hefei area overall situation. The main survey content for some commonly used strategy, the strategy to use in age, gender, motivation differences, the overall level of spoken adult situations, as well as the correlation of verbal learning strategies and level of spoken. It is worth noting that the investigation in this article refers specifically to adult students learning spoken English society due to the various purposes of adult learning groups. Through questionnaires and oral tests, collect data, and social science statistics analysis software package SPSS (12.0) statistical analysis of the data. Web International English Hefei 52 adult students in the survey, randomly selected to participate in a survey. Oxford 1990 design language learning strategies questionnaire (SILL) and admitted students basic English test and oral test scores and other data. The survey results show that: 1) Most of the students will use one or two learning strategies, of which the most frequently used memory strategies and compensation strategies; 2) students of different ages in the choice and frequency of verbal learning strategies have significant differences ,20-28-year-old age students than students of other ages to be more frequently using a variety of strategies; 3) with integrated motivated students, students with instrumental motivation, strategy frequency of use did not differ significantly; 4) there are significant gender differences in adult learning strategy use frequency, female trainees in the frequency of use of metacognitive strategies and affective strategies is clearly higher than male students; compensation strategies and cognitive strategies and speaking ability exist significant positive correlation . The authors further analyzed and discussed from the learners themselves factors, stressed that reduce trainee anxiety psychological affective strategies, build self-confidence and respect for themselves, teachers should guide students in actual classroom activities to reduce negative emotions, thereby strengthening the oral practice, and to improve the oral The purpose of the horizontal.
