Abstract


English news discourse anaphora as a research object, starting from the cognitive metonymy angle, aims to explore the nature of Deep Anaphora, and attempt to provide a model for surface anaphora and Deep Anaphora for analysis, interpretation surface and deep anaphora said the object of the cognitive processes identified back pointing. Have a long history of research on anaphora, many scholars from a variety of angles, such as linguistics and psychology research anaphora. Anaphora has traditionally been considered the establishment of cross-refers to the relationship between language surface. From a cognitive perspective, it is socially prominent sides according to the mental representation of discourse established entity. With the development of cognitive linguistics' Ariel's accessibility theory gradually we are familiar with, and in the interpretation of anaphora played a more important role. Ariel summed up in its accessibility theory the alleged words can and degree level. But the level of limitations in that it can only be applied to the surface anaphora. The Hankamer Sag (1976) anaphora is divided into the anaphora the surface and deep anaphora, Qin Hongwu (2001) further divided into the Deep Anaphora the preceding items without express anaphora, anaphoric zero pronouns and ambiguous anaphora. The metonymy in recent years, attracting the attention of a growing number of scholars, and is considered to be an important human way of thinking. Many scholars have proposed various cognitive theory of metonymy, for example, Gibbs (1994), Fass (1997), Radden and Kovecses (1999) and so on. One of the most important theory of metonymy Al-Sharafi (2004) Discourse mode. In this mode, the metonymy explain Discourse Cohesion and Coherence in a process. In addition, an important theoretical Lakoff (1987) idealized cognitive model. By Radden and the Kovecses (1999) believe the metonymy cross-domain exists in three domains form concepts and things. Deep Anaphora is controlled by the pragmatic factors, and can not be explained from a syntactic perspective, but must be explained from a cognitive perspective. Therefore, we propose a model of cognitive metonymy angle analysis, and interpretation of said object back pointing cognitive processes identified in surface and deep anaphora. The material comes from a term of this thesis is the Anglo-American news coverage of the major newspapers and magazines. Ambiguous, in order to to avoid misunderstanding determine anaphora need to pay a lot of effort. I hope this article not only extended back refers to the area of ??research, and can accurately determine the English news discourse in the back pointed object called. And analysis from the perspective of cognitive metonymy anaphora can provide a reference for future research.
