Abstract

At present, the public political speech has become an important means of international exchange. Which in the past few decades, scholars from the content analysis, stylistics and critical discourse analysis study of public political speeches. However, we think that should get the appropriate attention from other areas of the public political speeches. According to the author of the initial observation, the pragmatic politeness principle in the school, as an important language to use one of the means, and often play a very important role in the public political speeches. Therefore, this paper analyzes the use of the public political speech in Chinese and English politeness principle, to investigate the effect of the use of the politeness principle in public political speech text, come to the revelation of conducting foreign exchange. In this paper, the theoretical framework of Leech's politeness principle. Leech's politeness principle theory is further evolved in Grice's cooperative principle. Leech the original appearance of the principle of subdivision for six criteria: strategic guidelines generous criteria praise criteria, modest standards conformance criteria and sympathy guidelines. The Leech think these six criteria enable communication ability to create a harmonious atmosphere in social interaction. This article from the pragmatic point of view of science compared the similarities and differences of the public political speech in Chinese and English politeness principle. First, we selected two comparable Strong presentation, including a speech at Tsinghua University in China, U.S. President George W. Bush, the other one is Chinese President Hu Jintao's speech at the Yale University. Secondly, in accordance with the Leech six politeness norms, respectively in the two speeches pick out Speeches politeness norms, then a quantitative comparison. Comparative results show that the most frequently used criteria in Chinese speech consistency criteria; most frequently used criteria in the English speech praised guidelines; Other criteria using relatively small compared to these two criteria; presentations abound in English breach of politeness principle phenomenon. The politeness principle comparative study of Chinese and English political speeches in foreign exchange as inspiration. First of all, to establish a good image of a responsible big country, we must take the initiative to act as an exemplary and set a good example. Secondly, during the foreign exchange, we should try to create a harmonious environment for exchange, so as to narrow the speaker in order to avoid too arrogant, foreign exchanges also should maintain humility and reason with the audience; the distance between the audience; once again, mutual understanding is the basic premise of trust in foreign exchange, the speaker should be promptly briefed the audience on the objective facts of our country's achievements in socialist construction, so that the facts speak. In summary, the comparative analysis of Chinese-English the politeness principle the similarities and differences between public political speech and politeness effect, a new perspective for the study of public political speech in Chinese and English, and also makes the English public political speech, there has been a new awareness, bring some inspiration to China in terms of foreign exchange strategy.
