Abstract

On the basis of output assumptions, Swain (1995) proposed the output of the three functions, namely: Note function to test the hypothesis function and meta-language features. In which attention function refers to the language output can induce learners aware of some language problems in their own language system, the gap between their own interlanguage and the target language, thus causing them to the attention of the target language input material in the target language form, which promote the acquisition of the target language form. In this study, Swain's output hypothesis is based on the theory and experimental methods to study the two output activity (abstract writing and articles reconstruction) can promote Chinese high school English learners of English Attributive Clauses attention and acquisition. The subjects of this research question is: 1) Output activities will promote the attention of the subjects of the input material specific grammatical form (English attributive clause)? 2) Output activities can promote the target grammatical form input materials Acquisition? subjects from two parallel classes in the Henan Kaifeng high grade, a class for the experimental group (32 people), one was the control group (32 people). The experimental group was required to complete the two output activities (completion of the first phase of the summary writing task, the second phase of to complete essay reconstruction tasks) in the control group completed the reading comprehension activities. Before the experiment, all subjects participated in the pre-test, after the experiment to participate in a timely post-test and delayed post-test. Of experimental and test data were analyzed using SPSS statistical software. Results: 1) attention to form the target language in the two phases of the experimental group and the control group of the experiment, there was no significant difference, and in the first stage of the experiment, the control group in the experimental group for the attention of the target language in the form of strong, may be caused by the higher cognitive demand of summary writing task. However, the second phase of the experimental group to the attention of the target language form far more than the control group, which may be caused by the attention function of the output, the questionnaire also confirmed that the experimental group, about 85% of the subjects admitted that they in first reconstruction encountered in the form of language difficulties, are more concerned about the language in the second input form. 2) In general, the experimental group, the purpose of language in the form of acquisition is stronger than the control group, two output tasks did promote the acquisition is the form of the target language, and its effect is long-term. Because in addition to timely post-test score of 1, measured 2 and the delay in the timely measure, the score of the experimental group were much higher than the control group, and was a significant difference. Basically, the study confirmed that Swain's output hypothesis, and some inspiration to improve the accuracy of learner language teaching with communication in English language output activities.
