Abstract


Since China established socialist market economic system, political, economic , cultural and social aspects of life have changed profoundly. The transition of this system and the enormous social change also had a significant impact on personal development. The contents of personal development includes individual personality formation of independence and freedom, full development and playing of personal capacity, formation and sublimation of person’s unique personality, and comprehensive improvement of personal ethics and physical as well as cultural quality.The establishment of the socialist market economic system has double effects on personal development. The first positive effect is that it provides a precondition for the formation of an independent and free of individual personality, that is, through the free and equal exchange relations of market economy to ensure personal independence, free will and personality formation. The second positive effect is it can provide favorable conditions for personal development and capacity, that is the development of space to the personal development and personal careers of freedom. The third positive effect is that it creates a favorable social environment for man’s personality development, that is, in the market economy, individuals are equal producers and operators, non-market factors almost disappear. The fourth positive effect is to lay the material foundation for free development of individuals. The last positive effect is that it create a favorable political environment for personal development. The negative effects mainly include materialized people, spiritual crisis; indifference, demoralisation; ideal nothingness, crisis of faith, popularization of culture, low style, rich-poor divide.To reflect the superiority of socialism, socialist market economic system must exert fully its Institutional strength and thought strength, overcome negative impact on personal development and promote positive effects, so that the economy development coordinate with personal development mutually. Therefore we should strengthen and improve the relevant system of socialist construction and moral construction, and overcome the negative impact of socialist market economy on the personal development.
