Abstract


China’s travel activities enjoy a long history since ancient times, which reach a peak during glorious age of Tang Dynasty. Holiday tourism is an important type of travel activities during this period. In holidays, everyone was involved in travel activities, from the emperor down to the common people. It was rare that such a wide range of people participated. Based on previous studies, this paper takes holiday tourism as the the research object and analises its many aspects during glorious age of Tang Dynasty. From its composition of this period, we may conclude the main body of the participation and tourism-related facilities in holiday tourism. After analise the main travel activities, we attempt to show the whole picture of holiday tourism during glorious age of Tang Dynasty, in order to summarise its characteristics. This paper can be divided into six parts. The first part is an introduction, including some definition of related concepts, the current research status, as well as the research significance of this subject. The second part is the research of the composition of holiday tourism during glorious age of Tang Dynasty. Mainly do more comprehensive analysis on holidays during this period, then understand the distribution of holidays and count specific days. The third part analyses the main tourists of holiday tourism, mainly the tourists segment. Devide the tourists into the royal family, official career and civilian sectors, respectively discuss the different characteristics of tourists during glorious age of Tang Dynasty. The fourth part analyses the facilities for eating, accommondation as well as transportaion and resources for holiday tourism. According to four seasons, the fifth part analyses travel activities in the spring, summer, autumn and winter. Discuss the different activities made by tourists in each aeason and conclude the specific profiles. The last part is the conclusion. It is a summary of the reasons for the prevalence of holiday tourism and its specific characteristics.
