Abstract


As one of the most important industry for our national economy, retail is an important part connecting manufacture with consumption, and it has close relationship with our market economy and people consumption. Since our country opened the retail market to all in 2004, the retail industry developed so fast especially in the form of chain hypermarket which became the main form of the retail industry.Chain store origined in the USA in the late 19th century. After developed for about 100 years, chain store operating affects many areas, such as retail industry, dining and services. At present, chain store operating as a way of operation, is widely used in retail industry and will become the main trend for retail. Chain store operating can help retail enterprise gain scale effect, reduce operation cost and achieve standardization and specialization. In our country, chain store operating starts a little late, but develops very fast. With retail enterprise expanding and more competitors in the retail area, chain store operating has became a dominant force in the retail industry.CP Lotus is a chain hypermarket which belongs to CP Group, entered Chengdu retail market in 2003. With developing for about five years, it could not hold a good position in the Chengdu retail market, but met many difficulties and found more problems. The article focused on the situation of CP Lotus in Chengdu retailing market and used some basic theories about retail industry and chain store operating, analyzing the situation of chain store operating about Chengdu CP Lotus, in order to find the reason why CP Lotus could not develop well in Chengdu and got the way how to settle those problems in Chengdu CP Lotus.This article consists of four parts. The first part is the introduction to the whole article about the writing background, researching method and article frame. The second part comes with the basic theories of retailing industry and chain store operating, and brings out the main view of the article. The third part is the main part of the article. Focuses on the current status of studying object then analysis the current status of Chengdu CP Lotus and try to explore the internal reasons why CP Lotus can’t develop well in Chengdu. The last part supplies the solving methods and ways for the problems of Chengdu CP Lotus.
