Abstract


Objective: To improve the understanding of acute basophilic leukemia about its diagnosis,treatment and prognosis and to explore treatments to acute basophilic leukemia by literature reviews.Methods:Case 1 a femal patient of forty-five years old,diagnosed as MDS-RAEB-1 concomitantly with transformation to acute basophilic leukaemia.Case 2 an eighty years old patient,diagnosed as acute basophilic leukemia.Retrospective analysis of the two patients with ABL treated with decitabine monotherapy (20mg/m2,d1-5) and interrelated literature reviews were presented.Results:Two patients were diagnosed as ABL by bone marrow and toluidine blue staining, immunophenotype and chromosome analysis, treaed with decitabine,but did not receive complete remission.Conclusion:ABL is a rare hematopoietic malignance, bone marrow toluidine blue staining,immunophenotype and electron microscopy are specific to the diagnosis of ABL.Currently there are no ideal treatments,ABL has poor treatment outcome and prognosis.The effect of drugs such as decitabine and others to ABL needs futher evaluations.
