Abstract


The Western Zhou and Eastern Zhou periods of Luoyang occupies an extremely important position in the history of China, because it is the capital city location, witnessed eight hundred years of history about the Western Zhou and Eastern Zhou periods and it has a significant impact on the establishment of capitals afterwards.But whether the Western Zhou Dynasty and the Eastern Zhou Dynasty build a capital or two and where are they nowadays have been a mystery puzzelled the Chinese scholars for over 2000 years. By combining the history and archaeology, the public can see that in the weeks before ZhouGong built over the Luoyang city,they called it Luo Yi,but when the capital was built,they changed Luo Yi to Chengzhou City, Wang City was a little castle of it. The Chengzhou City of the Western Zhou should be on the right bank and left bank of the Chan River, rather than in Henan county of Han Dynasty which is recorded by history books writed after Han Dynasty; the historical remains of Western Zhou in the old Han-Wei periods Luoyang city in Yanshi,it must be a city which was built in mid-week of the Western Zhou period to protect the Chengzhou City and prevent the revolt of the east. The Eastern Zhou Dynasty has two cities of Wang City and Chengzhou. Wang City locates in the area of Wang City Park in today’s Luoyang City; The Chenzhou locates under the old Han-Wei Luoyang city in Yanshi, Luoyang, which is built on the basis of the city of Western Zhou.
